While filming “The Night of the Iguana” in the early 60´s, director John Huston rented Casa Tabachin to enjoy the fabulous hillside panoramic views of Puerto Vallarta and the Bay of Banderas. One of the original houses of Gringo Gulch, Fernando Romero built it in old colonial Mexican style in 1957, and then went on to build many wonderful homes, including Huston´s. Architect James Meares, a designer of Los Angeles Dorothy Chandler Music Pavilion, recently remodeled Casa Tabachin.
Perched above charming old town of Puerta Vallarta this newly contemporized house accommodates up to eight guests with a wonderful staff to pamper you during your Mexican holiday.
Raquel Brooks, long term resident and art dealer, has blended intimacy and charm into Casa Tabachin by decorating the two-level home with artworks from her famous Vallarta gallery and special commissions by national artists.
Sandy beaches, quaint markets on cobblestone streets, and sophisticated boutiques are conveniently steps from this private hideaway. The sun sets and it´s time for the nightlife to begin: Mexican mariachi music, fine restaurants and dining till dawn invite romance and adventure to complete your vacation.
Bedrooms Two levels of open-air sun terrace comfortably furnished for indoor/outdoor charm and intimacy. The top floor spacious master suite has a fireplace, open-air shower/bathtub and sitting room. The three other bedrooms are on the entry level - 2 with a queen bed and 1 with twin beds - all with private bathrooms and air-conditioning.

Puerto Vallarta
Set on the shoreline of the second largest bay in the Americas with the green foothills of the majestic Sierra Madre at its back, this is the romantic city on the Mexican Riviera–the traditional Mexican village–the city of grand hotels and cobblestone streets. If ever there was a town full of beautiful contrasts, that town is Puerto Vallarta. |
