Villa Cascadas, tranquil and dramatic seascape setting in Paradise Coves on the Punta Mita coast, combined with the owners´ propensity for an active outdoors lifestyle, gave Vallarta architect Luis Manuel Carcamo the perfect opportunity to manifest an innovative, truly organic home at one with its surroundings.
Nothing exaggerated, quality natural materials and workmanship speaking for themselves, the human-sized entryway reveals the heart and soul of the place: a lush three-story waterfall communicating peace and primordial privilege throughout – even in the kitchen, where it forms a refreshing pond. And a huge palapa frames the offshore ocean break through a triangle window feature.
Earthy and discreet, it´s rich with subtle soft contrasts – like making the master suite stand out by placing a pergola over the entrance, rather than a palapa like the others. And while you step down into a bedroom, you step up into the kitchen so you can enjoy a great view of the beach and ocean while preparing dinner, even though the dining room´s right in front of you.
An open concept means house guests aren´t separated from one another, enjoying in the living room the tranquility of a waterfall on one side and the ocean on the other. Unpretentious furnishings invite feet-up comfort, a rough-hewn coffee table obliging. Gentle variations in tones and textures keep things vital, variances in a huge palapa defining walls, and a chimney-like stone element rising out of it tying in with the stonework that embraces the five-bedroom, 6.5-bath structure.
From the rooftop terrace you can spot the Marietas Islands and lounge in complete privacy, the expansive pool terrace a natural progression of the open concept. The seemingly simple touch of placing a boulder on either side of the infinity pool, not only framing it but continuing the visual flow of the rocky waterfall, makes Villa Cascadas one with the cove and the rocky islands beyond.
Bedrooms The master suite, like the rest of the house attuned to its serendipitous natural environment, features a secret garden, wood and glass pocket doors, and a vestibule considerately separating the bedroom from the bathroom, with its tempered-glass and flagstone shower and twin copper sinks on two niched walls.

Puerto Vallarta
Set on the shoreline of the second largest bay in the Americas with the green foothills of the majestic Sierra Madre at its back, this is the romantic city on the Mexican Riviera–the traditional Mexican village–the city of grand hotels and cobblestone streets. If ever there was a town full of beautiful contrasts, that town is Puerto Vallarta. |
